The Welding Expert weld testing system by Struers, world leader
in materialography, produces instant, precise measurements of prepared
samples from ¼” to 2”. (The system can be factory-configured for
larger samples.)
A wide range of user-defined fields, and customizable measurement
templates, allow the system to accommodate management preferences
and reporting formats.
Accuracy is up to 10 µm, depending on the specified field of view.
A comprehensive description of the welded part, and the weld bead
acceptance criteria, are registered and password-protected. All parameters
are automatically loaded and processed during measurements.

A prepared sample is placed on the instrument’s flat glass surface.
An internal LED ring light provides bright, uniform illumination for the
remote CD camera, ensuring a crisp, high contrast image. Auto calibration
and auto focus provide the operator maximum flexibility in selecting the
optimum field of view, and the zoom window is highly accurate.
This unique weld testing system from Struers provides virtually unlimited
capability to evaluate and manipulate images. Triangular throat measurement
can be determined instantly, as well as gap measurement. Results are viewed
as red or green (pass/fail), quickly indicating welds that are in or out of tolerance.
During measurement, a viewer window displays the part drawing, eliminating the
need for external documentation.
Welding Expert provides exceptional reporting, filtering and data mining
capabilities. It also benefits users with flexible system administrator access
and password control.
